Awesome Indie account

Delete your account

You can do it yourself, in the Awesome Indie app for iOS and Android or on the website, in under a minute. It is immediate, it is complete, and nobody can undo it afterwards, including us.

Three ways to do it

  1. 01

    In the app

Open the gear icon in the top-right corner of any tab to reach Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. You will be asked to confirm twice. The app signs you out as soon as it is done.

  2. 02

    On the website

Signed in, go to Settings → Account and use Delete account at the bottom of the page. Same confirmation, same result.

  3. 03

    By email

If you cannot sign in any more, write to [email protected] from the address on the account, or from another one with enough detail for us to be sure it is you. We delete the account within a few working days and confirm by reply.

Only some of it?

You do not have to close the account to remove specific things. Each of these is deleted the moment you confirm.

  1. 01

    A comment or a post

Open its "…" menu and choose Delete, in the app or on the website. Replies to it stay, without the thing they were replying to.

  2. 02

    A product you submitted

Open the product, choose Edit, and use Delete at the bottom. Its images, stats, comments and upvotes go with it.

  3. 03

Profile details, picture and push notifications

Clear any field in Settings → Profile; a cleared field is deleted, not hidden. Push subscriptions are removed per device from Settings → Notifications, or by uninstalling the app.

  4. 04

    Anything else

Email [email protected] from the address on the account and say what should go. We answer within 30 days, usually much sooner, and confirm when it is done.

What happens to your data

The account row is removed and everything attached to it goes with it, in the same instant. The exceptions are short, and each has a reason.

Deleted immediately

  • Your profile: name, username, bio, picture, links and location
  • Sign-in connections to Google, Apple, GitHub or X, and every session
  • Push notification subscriptions on every phone and browser
  • Products you submitted, with their images and stats
  • Comments, posts, upvotes, follows and followers
  • Your active days, streak and badges
  • The log of emails we sent you

Kept, and why

  • Receipts for a launch day or sponsorship you paid for: tax law requires them, and they are detached from your account
  • Reports you filed about other content: kept for abuse triage, with the link to you severed
  • A support chat, if you had one: it lives in Crisp, not our database. Ask and we delete it too
  • Database backups: rolling, so a deleted account disappears from them as they cycle out over a few weeks

The full list, with retention periods, is clause 09 of the Privacy Policy. Anything else about your data goes to [email protected].
