Mailcoach is an email marketing platform that’s redefining how creators, bootstrappers, and developers manage their newsletters, automations, and transactional emails. Founded by Freek Van der Herten, a respected figure in the Laravel community, Mailcoach launched in January 2020 and has quickly become a favorite among those who want powerful features without the complexity or ballooning costs of traditional platforms.
What Makes Mailcoach Different?
Unlike most popular email marketing services, Mailcoach charges users based on the number of emails sent — not the number of contacts stored. This pricing model, starting at just $9.99 per month, means that as your audience grows, your costs don’t skyrocket. For creators with large or rapidly growing lists, this can mean dramatic savings compared to platforms like Mailchimp or Brevo.
Features Built for Growth and Flexibility
Mailcoach offers a comprehensive suite of tools:
Newsletter campaign management
Automation workflows for drip campaigns
Transactional email handling
Advanced segmentation and analytics
Real-time email editing and drag-and-drop design
Deep API and developer integration, especially for Laravel users
With both a fully-managed cloud solution and a self-hosted option, Mailcoach gives users the flexibility to choose the setup that best fits their needs. The self-hosted version is particularly attractive for organizations that require full data control or want to customize their email infrastructure.
Privacy and Compliance at the Core
Mailcoach is built and hosted entirely within the EU, using EU-owned infrastructure. This ensures full GDPR compliance and a privacy-first approach — tracking is off by default, and features like double opt-in and minimal data retention are standard. For anyone concerned about data sovereignty or privacy regulations, Mailcoach stands out as a trustworthy choice.
Who Is Mailcoach For?
Mailcoach is tailor-made for:
Indie creators and bootstrappers who need affordable, scalable email marketing
Developers (especially those working with Laravel) who want deep integration and customization
Startups and digital businesses looking to avoid the high costs of legacy platforms
Organizations with strict privacy or data control requirements
